Introduction to Baccarat
Baccarat is a dynamic card game where the house deals and players reveal the cards. In some variations, like Mini and Midi Baccarat, players do not handle the cards directly, though the gameplay mirrors that of traditional Baccarat.
Objective of the Game
Your goal is to predict which hand—Player or Banker—will come closest to a total of 9. Face cards and tens are worth zero, Aces count as one, and all other cards retain their face value. Only the rightmost digit of the card total is used to determine the hand’s value.
Gameplay Example
After bets are placed, four cards are dealt: the Player receives the first and third, while the Banker takes the second and fourth. The dealer announces each total, and additional cards may be drawn based on the Third Card Rules.
Betting Options
Players may wager on the Player, the Banker, or a tie. Winning bets on Player or Banker pay 1:1—except when the Banker wins with a 6 in No Commission Baccarat. Tie bets offer an 8 to 1 payout.
No Commission Baccarat
In this version, if the Banker wins with a total of 6, winning bets on the Banker are paid at 1 to 2 (half the original wager). Players can also make an optional Super 6 side bet, which pays 12 to 1 when the Banker wins with exactly 6.
Commission Baccarat
In traditional Commission Baccarat, winning Banker bets pay even money, but a 5% commission is taken from each Banker win.
Additional Wagers
Baccarat includes side bets like the Dragon Bonus and Pair bets. The Dragon Bonus rewards hands that win naturally or by a significant margin—a 9-point win pays 30 to 1, while a 4-point win pays 2 to 1. Pair bets pay 11 to 1 when the first two cards dealt to the selected hand are a matching pair, such as two Jacks.
Third Card Rules
Whether a third card is drawn depends on the hand totals:
Player:
Total 0–5: Draws a third card
Total 6 or 7: Stands
Total 8 or 9: Natural—no third card
Banker:
Total 0–2: Draws unless Player has a natural 8 or 9
Total 3: Draws unless Player’s third card is 8
Total 4: Draws if Player’s third card is 2–7
Total 5: Draws if Player’s third card is 4–7
Total 6: Draws if Player’s third card is 6 or 7
Total 7: Stands
Total 8 or 9: Natural—no third card drawn
