How to Play Blackjack
Minimum and maximum betting limits, as well as payout caps, are clearly posted at each table.
Blackjack is an exciting and widely loved casino game where players go head-to-head with the dealer. Bets are placed in marked areas on the table, after which each player receives two cards face-up, while the dealer gets one card face-up and one face-down. The goal is to reach a hand value of 21—or get as close as possible without going over—while beating the dealer’s total.
Face cards (10, Jack, Queen, King) are each worth 10 points. Aces can count as either 1 or 11, depending on what benefits the hand. All other cards are valued at their face number. If your first two cards are an Ace and any 10-value card, you’ve got a ‘Blackjack’—a premium hand that pays out based on the table’s listed odds (commonly 3:2 or 6:5).
If the dealer also has a Blackjack, it results in a push—no one wins, and your original bet is returned. If your total is under 21, you may choose to draw additional cards to improve your hand. Once you’re satisfied, signal to stand and let the dealer play their hand.
Dealers follow fixed rules: if the table reads “Dealer Must Hit Soft 17,” the dealer must draw when holding a soft 17 (a hand totaling 17 that includes an Ace counted as 11). If the table says “Dealer Must Stand on 17,” the dealer will not take another card when they have 17 or more.
You win by having a higher hand than the dealer without busting—or if the dealer busts while your hand remains in play.
Doubling down allows you to increase your original bet after receiving your first two cards if you’re confident one more card can strengthen your hand. You place an additional wager equal to your initial bet and receive just one more card.
Splitting pairs is available when your first two cards are of equal value. You can divide them into two separate hands, placing a matching bet on the second hand. Up to four hands may be split—except Aces, which may be split only once and receive one card each. Doubling down is permitted on split hands, except when splitting Aces.
Insurance is an optional bet offered when the dealer’s upcard is an Ace. You may wager up to half your original bet that the dealer has a ten-value hole card, resulting in Blackjack. If correct, the insurance bet pays 2 to 1.
A push happens when both the player and the dealer have hands of equal value. No one wins, and the player’s original bet is returned.
Hand signals are silent gestures used to indicate whether you want to hit or stand. Ask the dealer if you’re unsure how to signal your choice properly.
Side Bets:
Kings Bounty™ is an optional side bet on whether your first two cards total 20, with bonus payouts for specific combinations, such as matched suits or face cards. Standard Blackjack rules still apply.
Perfect Pairs™ is a side wager that wins if your first two cards form a pair. Payouts vary based on the type: Mixed Pair, Colored Pair, or Perfect Pair. This bet does not affect regular Blackjack play.
Double Pairs™ offers three betting options: Dealer Pair, Player Pair, and Double Pair. You’re betting on whether the first two cards dealt to the dealer, player, or both will form pairs. Each has its own payout structure, and the base game rules remain unchanged.
What is BlackJack?
Doubling Down
After receiving your first two cards, you can double your original bet if you believe one more card will strengthen your hand. This option gives you only one additional card and no further action.
Splitting Pairs
If your first two cards are of equal value, you have the option to split them into two separate hands, placing an equal wager on the second hand. You can split up to four hands, with the exception of Aces, which may be split only once and receive one card each. Doubling down is allowed on split hands, except after splitting Aces.
Insurance
When the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, you may choose to place an insurance bet—up to half of your original wager—predicting that the dealer has a ten-value card to complete a Blackjack. If correct, the insurance pays 2 to 1.
Push
A push occurs when both the player and the dealer have hands of equal value. The round ends in a tie, and your original bet is returned.
Hand Signals
Non-verbal gestures are used to communicate your choices, such as “hit” or “stand.” If you’re unsure about the proper signals, don’t hesitate to ask your dealer for guidance.
Side Bets:
Kings Bounty™
An optional side wager based on whether your first two cards total 20. Bonus payouts are offered for specific combinations like matching suits or specific face pairs. Core Blackjack rules still apply.Perfect Pairs™
A simple side bet that pays if your first two cards form a pair. There are three types: Mixed Pair, Colored Pair, and Perfect Pair, each with distinct payout odds. This bet does not affect standard gameplay.Double Pairs™
Offers three separate side bets: Player Pair, Dealer Pair, and Double Pair. You’re betting on whether either or both first two cards of the player or dealer form a pair. Payouts vary based on the combinations, and regular Blackjack rules remain unaffected.
